The Castle

I decided that I wanted a poem at the beginning of my book. I wanted it to be about the contrast yet similarity of the castle and the forest, and the men who reside within. However after about two hours I had two stanzas of horrific poetry that reminded me of the Calvin and Hobbs poems only about half as good. Adren informed me that writing poems was easy; all you had to do was decide what you wanted to say and say it in pretty words. I didn't want that right then so I told her to write me a poem to get rid of her. She asked me what it should be about and I said Knights and Bandits, getting pretty frusterated at my stupid poem. About two minutes later she came back and said she was done. I read it once through and officially retired from writing poetry. Though nothing like this actually happens in the book, she did great for the amount of PROMPT I gave her. Here it is, and mine is put to shame by a seven year old.

The Castle
By Adren Setian
The castle stands still as still can be.
The knights stand guard by the door.
The wind whistles through the trees.
Bandits creep like rabbits,
Feeling there is danger near.
Yet people in the castle sleep
As if nothing was going on,
While sneaky servants steal away.

Adren, your poem is pretty. I'm worried about the people sleeping in the castle. I wonder what's going to happen?
